Jolien Mouw

Jolien Mouw is an assistant professor (with ius promovendi) at GION Education/Research (University of Groningen) and a member of the Young Academy Groningen. Her research, teaching, and innovation projects can be characterized as practice-oriented and involve collaboration with a variety of stakeholders. She’s currently the principal investigator of two large-scale projects (De Klas op Orde met VR and Adding a Layer to Learning) and leads both intersectoral and interdisciplinary project teams. In 2024, Jolien and her team were awarded the Nederlandse Onderwijspremie for De Klas op Orde met VR. She strongly values societal outreach and sees this as an opportunity to bridge theory and practice. As such, she has hosted various social media accounts such as NL_Wetenschap (2020, and 13–17 April 2026) and NL_Leraar, and was featured on regional and national television and radio programs, and in newspapers.
